Recognition Day… a day to be proud of

School year is finally over.

Time flies noh?

Next school year, Baby Snow White will be on Grade 1 na.

But before thinking of the coming school year, let me share to you our pride moment on Baby Snow White’s recognition day.

Because of the K-12, kindergarten is already a part of the elementary curriculum thus, there is no more graduation rites. They are already a part of the elementary recognition and no longer wear the traditional toga.

While waiting for the program to start. We took some photo op!

Baby Snow White and Baby J are friends since Day Care.

Mother Tongue

What are the languages being taught  in your child’s school?

Here in Aklan, Akeanon ( local dialect) is being taught to lower grades including kindergarten.

No problem with that.
But because of their young age, it becomes a little bit complicated for them to learn and differentiate English, Filipino and Akeanon.

They even have books in Akeanon.
Some parents believe that it should be taught on higher grade levels.
How about you fellow moms?
Does your child’s school implement Mother Tongue subjects?

How is your usual day with a kindergarten?

Having a kindergarten daughter means  waiting a few hours at school. Before, that is not the case for me. My cousin takes them to school then Sweet Cinderella will drop Baby Snow White in her classroom before proceeding to her own class.

Baby Snow White is a very independent child. She loves doing things on her own. However when she feels that she is being left behind, she cries. Whenever parents go inside the room to be with their kids, she cries. No mommy on her side, hehehe.

So I decided to go to her school during recess time and wait until her class ends.

So this is the usual scenario of mothers waiting for their kids.

I’m one of them now.

Good News!

Just got a text from my friend.
She said that there’s a new update regarding the DepEd Order’s new age requirements for kindergarten and Grade 1.

Last January, DepEd released a new Deped Order stating that a child needs to be 5 years old by June 1 2015 to be accepted in Kindergarten replacing the previous cut-off date which is October 30,2015.

Therefore, kids turning 5 years old from June 2-October 30 2015 need to go back to DayCare or stop for 1 year.

This raised eyebrows of affected parents. Why on earth would they release such DepEd memo at the middle of the school year? Many kids will be affected.

So today, I am happy because a new deped memo has been released exempting this year’s batch for the changes.

Yey! Finally, we wont be coming back to DayCare anymore.

I’m so relieved. 🙂
